U74 Bruno Duplant | nox CD/Digital
By now, the hyperactive, self-taught french artist Bruno Duplant shouldn’t need an introduction anymore…He has indeed an impressive «business» card so to say, having collaborated with many musicians, and counting a rather huge list of solo releases…
Field recordings with their ability of fixing memories are often a pivotal point for his compositions adorned with discreet, hazy touches of instrumentation and permeated with musique concrète ethics… His works decompose the real (things, spaces, moments) rematerializing it in potent unutterable fictions, true cinema for the ears…
So proud thus to present Bruno Duplant’s second opus for the Unfathomless series…
«nox » is the veil, a nocturnal punctuation…
«nox» tears the veil apart, summoning half-dreams…it morphs into a suspended lament, a wordless ceremony…
«nox» is a tableau of light shreds, a reagent for our senses, a white ashen page, the diverted daily life, a vague vision that one can inhabit at will… An amalgam of ephemeral impressions, spirit of places, unclear sensations, filigree silhouettes, all coalescing into a distinct entity… While we travel along the city neon lights and watch the hazardous rain patterns on windows, «nox» is there to remind us we’re all passengers into ever changing territories where each of our traces matter… Expect lonesome piano notes, broken tones of melancholic grandeur, a musical movement cast in the atmosphere of a corroded movie on a bed of whispers and stirring sounds…
Expect the unexpected…

U75 Nicholas Maloney | passage CD/Digital
Second to get the ball rolling, is Nicholas Maloney’s debut for the series…he came under my radar via some intense, evocative/inspiring works, both solo or collab, like «lux clamorque» with Jon-Michael Platt for Green Field recordings…
Mostly using processed field recordings and found sounds, but also sometimes objects, sparse instrumentation shades, and various post-production techniques, he weaves threads of new alluring sonic narratives wishing to share experiences of deep listening challenging our perceptual levels…
Taking an advantage of an exile period in Ireland where he completed an MA, he explored thoroughly the Port of Cork area, composing a perhaps more land-based portrait than what one might have anticipated…aptly titled «passage», we witness an ambulation auscultating often derelict buildings and assorted urban paraphernalia, capturing their sighs and rumbles…
Beyond the enclosures and gates, this audio-trip becomes a revelatory procession…
So, SEE…FEEL, graze the threshold…air, pressure, small sounds appear then swell, dissolve, edifices tremble, the harbour gets activated, breathing at its own pace, giving way to details emerging from the invisible…
AROUND, ALONG, WITHIN, wind injects life, metallic oscillations surge in billows, releasing long buried tones… «passage» is a strange involving score where the inanimate gets a voice, walls leak stories, nature reclaims its rights… «passage» is like crossing a river of no return where one submits to far too long unaddressed inner rhythms…it offers a vision of a rediscovered harmony, but also expels signs of warning… «passage» holds possibly bits of your salvation…
