The ever richly descriptive and sentient TJ Norris takes a deep breath to plunge into the guts of “reclaim“, seeing it as a piercing magnification of Nature’s ways to recapture its original spaces …

U56 brb>voicecoil | reclaim CD
Quite a few shivers here to present you this thundering contribution to the Unfathomless series from brb>voicecoil, alias of Kevin Wilkinson, a Newcastle Upon Tyne offspring and long time figure of experimental music, and steersman behind both Muza muza, and MUZZeDIA VERHEAD labels…
A constant in his approach has been the uncompromising attitude, and a Musique Concrète spirit, as well as a total devotion to the in-depth manipulation, dismantling/recomposition of sound, as well as some matching lo-fi hypnotic graphic dressing…
brb>voicecoil soaks up parts of a selected surrounding, interacts with it, breaks its code, and then “regurgitates” it under new forms without betraying its essence…
Deconstruction, reconfiguration, re-processing are all key operations to reach a baffling result that keeps stirring us in unexpected ways…
On “reclaim”, brb>voicecoil excoriates blind sprawl, and leaves the last word to Nature.
“reclaim” is the statement of an environmental failure, and an attempt in putting the pieces back together…
Be transported in transitional zones where conflict between impermanent rash human-built and avenging nature generates elevating coming and going aural frictions and rubbings…
…A world of enhancing scoriae & cyclic englobement, infused with the ghost of Small Cruel Party…

U57 Jared Sagar | Tombland CD
After his much acclaimed enigmatic seaside “Holme” of 2017, Jared Sagar, prolific and versatile UK composer, is back with “Tombland”…Much concerned with the careful shaping of sounds, Jared processes them like a potter or a painter, sketching out many versions until a conclusive form starts to appear…
Despite its slightly sinister overtone, “Tombland” isn’t actually about an ancient burial site, but comes from two Old English words meaning “open ground” or “empty space”…by exploring this little medieval town at the very heart of Norwich, Jared is seeking thus for potentials of emergences…
Winds become whispers, air conditioners sing, tiny amplified sounds unfold their own tales…all merge within a grainy flowing collage murmuring a shadowy excursion…
…”Tombland” summons up invisible presences, delivering another sentient soundmontage breathing with a life of its own…an awakening trek…

Still feeling a bit in a transitional period related to the sleeves of the Unfathomless releases and that, after having lost the printer whom I worked with since the inception of the series – so I’m a bit experimenting with different papers and different formulas, concerned to keep the quality level, of course…so things might still change for next titles…after all, 2019 marks our tenth year of existence, so some sort of mutation is part of the process, I guess…
Anyway, thrilled as always to present you the very first couple of Unfathomless releases for 2019 :

audio-samples will follow imminently…
